The Mental Landscape series is a practice of painting from memory.  A practice where anything can arise.  Anything is allowed.  Surprise, surprise, surprise...  And so, a flower is not a tulip, but a kaleidoscope of memories of many tulips, peonies, or dahlias catalyzing into a unique, imaginary plant.  A face is not exactly the face of someone I love, but a collection of gestures, of energy, of attitudes of my loved one.  Experience translates into impressions. Impressions are expressed in color and form.
